It's time to tune up your pinewood derby car for the Sabine District Pinewood Derby. Take this opportunity to see how well your car can do with all the scouts from the other Mid-County and Orange/Bridge City packs! This annual event is held in the middle of Central Mall on Saturday, February 28th. Check-in begins at 8:00am with races beginning at 9:00am. Use the entrance next to Bed, Bath & Beyond. The March pack meeting will be Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:30pm in the Family Life Center at the First United Methodist Church. At this meeting, we will be celebrating our Webelos 2 Den Members, Noah Ross and Cameron Covington, earning the highest rank of Cub Scouting - The Arrow of Light. We will also get to see them Cross Over into their new Boy Scout Troop - Troop 51. Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held around a bonfire with some surprise guests! Bring your lawnchairs to have a comfortable seat for the ceremony, then we will move to the Family Life Center for Cake and Punch.

Scouts, are you ready to hunt for some treasure? If so, make sure you are signed up for an exciting weekend of camping with the famous pirate Jean Laffite at the Sabine District Family Camp the weekend of March 6th-8th. The scouts and siblings can participate in the Periscope Down, Alligator Swamp, Artist Colony, Prize Crossing, Bayou Battle, War Materials, and Bird Safari activites while on the lookout for the hidden treasure. This annual scouting service project take place the following Saturdays in March, March 21st and March 28th. This is an opportunity for scouts to help make a difference in our community by collecting food. This is a service project that is a staple of in the scouting organization, and is well received by the community. Participation only requires the two Saturdays for about two hours each day. The first Saturday, March 21st, will be spent dropping off empty grocery bags on the doorsteps of homes, and the second Saturday, March 28th, will be spent picking up those grocery bags now filled with items to be delivered to the local food pantry. More information will be coming at your den meetings
